Giardino Botanico Heller
In 1901, famous dentist and scientist Arthur Hruska came to Gardone at Lake Garda, where he came to experience and appreciate the particularities of the climate at Lake Garda. Between 1910 and 1971, he created a botanical garden around his place of residence, which occupies an area of over one and a half hectares and holds more than 500 different kinds of plants from all continents and climate zones, such as magnolia, Tibetan primroses, reeds of all sizes, Iris and green ferns, most notably “Osmunda regalis”.
There is also a wide variety of carnivorous and sub-tropical plants. In addition, you can find numerous water plants blooming on small ponds between the water fountains of the typically Japanese landscape architecture.
